Urges investors to channel funds towards biodiversity

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – There is urgent need to invest in sustainable conservation practices as biodiversity played a crucial role in the country’s economy, President Cyril Ramaphosa said Tuesday.
Ramaphosa was addressing the Biodiversity Economic and Investment Indaba at the Birchwood Hotel, in Johannesburg.
He said biodiversity played a critical role biodiversity plays in the country’s economy, therefore there was an urgent need for investment in sustainable practices.
“South Africa stands at the forefront of biodiversity conservation, and it is imperative that we integrate this into our economic framework,” President Ramaphosa said.
Biodiversity can spur economic growth, job creation
He highlighted the potential for job creation and economic growth through eco-tourism and sustainable agriculture.
