Lesotho – SuperSport United are mourning the untimely death of George Chigova after an alleged heart attack on November 15, 2023 after collapsing while training with his club in South Africa. The former Zimbabwean goalkeeper’s death comes as a shocker to many.

In July 2023, Chigova suffered a severe heart attack which cast doubt on his playing future in football.

At the time, his coach at SuperSport United Gavin Hunt, admitted that it would be almost impossible for Chigova to come back.

He had his shot to fame whilst with Aces Youth Soccer Academy. In the backdrop of his newfound fame, he was signed with Gunners in 2010 before he switched the floor to Harare giants in 2012.

In 2014, he joined SuperSport United before joining Polokwane City in 2015. Five years later, he returned to SuperSport United. At the time of his untimely death, he was reportedly in the books of SuperSport.
