The DNA of a Champion

Introduction
There is just something about winning, it makes you visible and relevant. Those who are soccer fans will never forget the hand of God by Maradona in the 1986 World Cup. Boxing fans will not forget the Rumble in the Jungle match between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman. How about the ascension to power by one Barak Hussein Obama? The examples are many but the point is we all cherish victory. The question most desire to ask is what makes a champion?

The Tenacity to achieve
Every winner has an inner drive or hunger for success. That quest for glory is so intense and enables winners to do crazy things as they push for the next level. The story of Maria Sharapova comes to mind, she was born in Russia but wanted to be a global tennis player so she left Russia for the United States as a broke teenager. That enabled her to compete at the highest level and become the first Russian woman to win the glamourous Wimbledon Title. She went on to win four more majors and a host of other thirty or so minor titles. She has a net worth of thirty-eight million American Dollars. The hunger to achieve drove her to a whole new territory.

Forgiveness is key to happiness- By Dr Ted Msipa

Winners Pay the Price
The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary. True success is a product of unrelenting persistence. Many may remember MMA Champion Francis Ngannou as a man with a solid chin and unbreakable will. But you may not know that he was a former border jumper or illegal immigrant who got deported from Europe several times until he finally sneaked in and became a great champion. He risked his life in a very dangerous boat as he pursued his European dream, today we celebrate him as a fierce competitor in Mixed Martial Arts. He even gave World Boxing Champion Tyson Fury a good run for his money.

They strive for perfection
Football global icon Cristiano Ronaldo is on record that talent is never good enough. Some so many talented people have amounted to nothing. A solid work ethic is what has produced some of the greatest champions of our era. Usain Bolt, who for the past sixteen years was the fastest man alive once said I practiced for four years to run nine seconds, yet others give up when they don’t see results in two months. Cristiano Ronaldo is an immensely gifted footballer but he has a reputation of coming for training two hours before everyone and leaving two hours after everyone. He strives for perfection and we cannot argue with his results.

They have faith in God
Most winners are deeply spiritual, Jürgen Klopp has transformed a mediocre Liverpool entity into a world-class outfit and yet we hear him submitting that Jesus Christ is everything. There is an aura of faith around him. The same can be said of former World Footballer of the Year, Kaka of Brazil. He remains a committed Christian brother throughout his fame. President Obama never shied away from sharing his Christian faith on his way to the famous white house. He kept his identity clear and unadulterated. In Malawi, Joyce Banda did not hide her faith as did Fredrick Chiluba in neighboring Zambia. President Felix Tshitsekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo confesses his faith. How can we forget the Kenyan statesman William Kipchirchir Samoei Arap Ruto? President Ruto is an ardent Christian who was elected President in 2022 at the age of 55. His faith propelled him to power in one of Africa’s most progressive nations.

Conclusion
You too can rise to conquer as you write your name in the annals of history. Remember success is not sexually transmitted, but it leaves traces and clues that can be imitated. Get up and stand up as you become a game changer. Africa is waiting for you and Jesus Christ remains the ultimate leader. Follow him and many will follow you. May your next level become a reality?
