Scenes at Africa Unity Square where thousands of civil servants, led by their permanent secretaries, marched in Harare demonstrating against the illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by western countries like the United States (US) and the United Kingdom (UK) and their allies.

Thousands of civil servants on Wednesday marched in Harare to mark the Sadc Anti-Sanctions Day as declared by regional leaders.

The day is marked annually on 25 October to denounce the sanctions imposed on Harare by western countries like the United Kingdom and the United States.

The event is being led by Vice President General (Retired) Dr Constantino Chiwenga.

The day is marked under the theme ‘Harnessing the Youth for Accelerated Socio-economic Development in the Fight Against Sanctions.’

Also present to mark the day is the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Ambassador Frederick Shava, who says support by the region and the African Union has been monumental in spearheading the country’s developmental thrust despite the imposition of the illegal embargo.

The ministers for Harare Metropolitan Province, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Youth Empowerment, Tourism and Hospitality, and ICT are also present to mark the day. – Wires
